What is concidered the first battle of the Revolutionary war is the battle at Bunker and Breed's Hill. This battle was very significant, concidering that the Americans WERE willing to fight much to the British's suprise. The Americans had a good advantage in this battle. They were at the top of the hill where the British were stuck at the bottom. Line after line of British soldiers were struck down by the americans. Women, children, and frightened wounded soldiers took refugee at John and Abigal Adam's home only some nine miles from the initial fighting that was taking place. John was not home at the time, so Abigal was taking care of these people at the time.
